I received a motherboard and processor for Christmas and picked out a new Fractal Design Define R4 Case (see seperate review). I picked out a pair of these, a pair of Corsair Air Series SP120 Quiet Edition fans, and a Corsair Air Series AF140 Quiet Edition Single Fan for a new build. I assembled all the parts and put in my existing drives. I had purchased "quiet" fans in the past and have always been disappointed. They either were not quiet, or they were ineffective at cooling. In the interest of trying to keep all the magic smoke in my devices, I always ended up with a noisy build. Not with these new fans. They move a good deal of air, and are so quiet that I had to check to see if they were running. Finally, I can have a conversation in the office without needing to shout.I'm running an AMD FX-8320 Eight-Core Processor, 3500 Mhz, 8 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s), with an ATI Radeon 5700. Not top of the line, but plenty good enough for what I use it for.At idle, my CPU is running at about 29°C. Under load it bumps up to about 37°C. The GPU idles at about 35°C and warms up to about 65°C under a load. I'm running Far Cry 3 at all high settings and it runs flawlessly. I don't overclock anything. The fans seem to be doing a great job, so I recommend them for anyone wanting to make an inexpensive build. You could probably buy a better fan, but not for this price.Good luck with your build!

I purchased several of these fans for a computer build for Christmas 2012. I also purchased fans from several other manufacturers to try out. I wanted to see which fans were really quality and quiet. The Corsair Quiet Edition fans, both the AF and SP series, won. This review is written for both series. The construction of the Corsair fans is very high quality. I could compare them side-by-side to other fans and they clearly were better. The Amazon listings for the AF and SP series describe appropriate uses for the two different models, and give complete specifications, but I'll elaborate on the listings a bit here. The AF series move a lot of air but need be installed where there will not be a lot of resistance to airflow. In such an installation the fans move a huge amount of air with essentially no noise, at the speed settings I used for the installation. If you are moving air through a filter or in some other installation where you need more ability to overcome resistance to airflow then get the SP series. They move little less air than the AF series if airflow is not restricted but move far more air through say a filter. To my ears they again made no noise as installed as the system was assembled and configured. The ultimate noise level will depend on how they are installed in a system and how fast they are run. My systems didn't require the absolute top speed for good cooling. I use a push-pull arrangement for cooling. Even at top speed they are very quiet. If you don't know where you are going to employ the fans I would get the SP series since they work in all situations.I not only used these Corsair fans in a new built but retrofitted an existing build as well. Clearly I would buy these fans again.

They're quiet, but not as quiet as I expected, but they do well at displacing air in/out of the computer case... One of the colored rings I received want bent/flawed so it created an annoying grinding noise until I removed it.One of the screw holes was also loose upon receiving the units. While attempting to screw it to my case (by hand), it slide right off the rubber case. Sadly I wasn't even trying to tighten the screw, but simply test the screw's fit. It appears the nut wasn't glued or really even attached to the unit. Kind of annoying.I was trying to save money by getting this instead of a Noctua, but now somewhat regret it after seeing the not so great quality control

I purchased the Corsair AF120 Quiet fans to replace the stock fans in my Corsair 650D case. I absolutely love the case except for some vibration that I theorized was caused by the fans. I can say with confidence that not only are the AF120 Quiet fans quieter than the stock but they reduce vibration far more. All vibration problems are gone from my case and the case temps are cooler than they were before. The fans are well designed with rubber mounting points for the screw holes. At no point is plastic touching plastic, it's all buffered by the rubber mounts. I am very pleased with these fans. The colored rings are a neat visual touch though I wish the blue was a little darker to match the blue leds in my case.
