I've been using Noctua fans exclusively for the past year or so, and I've wanted to try a Phanteks since they seem to get good reviews. This is the revised II version of the PH-F140HP and it touts high pressure meant for CPU coolers or anywhere airflow is restricted by something immediately in front of or behind the fan. The Noctua NH-D14 CPU cooler comes with a 120mm and 140mm fan and--even being Noctuas--were not quiet enough without PWM control. This Phanteks uses 120mm mounting holes but is a 140mm fan. Perfect center fan replacement.Due to the design of the frame, the Noctua clips will not fit into this fan. I used some zip ties to secure the metal clips instead. They are black so they match the fan blades and it looks cleaner than it sounds :) It fits tightly on the cooler but still works. Speaking of the frame, if your motherboard has a vertical VRM board, the lower holes will hit it (at least the case on my Asus P8Z77-I Deluxe). You can shave them down less than a millimeter and the top of the fan will be even with the top of the D14's heatpipes if it's touching the side panel. How about performance? This fan is basically inaudible over the HDD at 20% speed. At 100%, it's a very even sound and still really quiet. Fan Xpert says those values are 510 and 1467, respectively, leaving it a bit short of the 1600RPM max rating. With the room ambient at just under 20C, my 3570k at a mild 4.2GHz OC was reaching about 70C during the standard Intel Burn Test. The max temp for this Ivy Bridge processor is 105C, there's plenty of headroom to chase a faster clock speed. The only other fan in my case is a Noctua S12B Redux PWM immediately behind the D14 with no front fan. The Phanteks barely revved up with the custom fan curve, it was incredibly quiet and about 5C cooler than the P14 fan that came with the CPU tower with the low noise adapter. Running the PH-F140HP II at 100%, the PC almost managed to reach upper 20 degrees Celsius on all cores at idle, and at 20% speed it's currently sitting in the upper 30s and I can't hear it over the WD Black HDD. In the picture, I know it's mounted "wrong" but I will be switching cases shortly (again...) so I should be able to use a fan on the front of the first tower. and I won't have to switch the Phanteks back. The temps are fine anyway.TL;DR Buy this fan if you have a D14 and want PWM control in a high-performance, quiet fan. Don't forget to order some 4-pin extensions and zip ties.

I purchased this Phanteks 140mm CPU Cooler fan to replace a Noctua 140mm fan that came standard on my new NH-D15S heatsink. The Noctua fan worked fine, but it did not suit my themes of black, white, and silver. The Phanteks fan looks perfect for my Noctua heatsink, and even better, it seems to work perfect. The fact that it came with a short "white" sheathed 4 pin connection cable made it even better, and it looks custom for my rig. The Phanteks fan runs full out at the rated 1600 rpm on PWM, moves a lot of air, and is as quiet as any fan I have ever used, Noctua included. The fan is designed for high static pressure, which makes it perfect for thick heatsinks or radiators. The fact that the fan was on Sale made it even better. I will probably purchase another one to put on my heatsink to have dual fans. Please keep in mind that this is a 140mm fan that has a 120mm mounting holes, and will not mount at all with standard 140 mm fan mounting points unless you are unusually creative. Very glad I took a chance to try this fan out.

I've been using these fans for years for air coolers, but also to put a 140mm fan in a 120mm spot. They are really reliable as I have 3 that are several years old that still work like new. Bought 4 more for a new water cooled build as case fans. They are attractive in both black and white themed builds and reasonably priced for the performance and reliability you get.I drilled the corner holes that have the o-rings in them out slightly, then used silicon pull-through mounts for them, rather than screws.

I bought this to change the color and maybe try go get some temps improvement in my Red Phanteks PH-TC14PE, actually playing Battlefront in Ultra settings I got an improvement of 5 C less in my i5 4690K (not overclocked) with the same setup even without changing thermal paste just placing this new Fans, but I can't be certain because I use now LP Ram Memory that allows me to center the front fan better.Performance wise I can't give less than 5 stars to this product, but the presentation... my god, it's so sad. Only 4 screws and shorter cable than the ones that originally came with my PH-TC14PE, also for this black version I would've also liked black braided cables.Beware of the short cable, this narrows its use and positioning in your case, meaning very close to your CPU Fan header even with a Y PWM Splitter the reach is limited, it kinda makes them cleaner looking. An extension would've been nice and the rubber mounting thingies that Phanteks includes in other fans. As other have mentioned this fan has 120mm mounting holes.Performance -- 5 stars for sureOverall presentation -- 3 starsFinal score -- 4 stars, can't go lower than this due to it's AMAZING performance and the application that I used it for, to upgrade my Phanteks cooler.
