This is a review of the Thermaltake Riing Plus 12 RGB Premium Edition 120mm Fan Triple Pack.Summary – If you are looking to make your PC light up nice and have a ton of lighting options, this really is the way to go. I just ordered a second set of three for the top of my pc and will be running a total of two kits (6 fans – 2 controllers) and could not be happier. These are the most amazing looking RGB fans I have seen to date. This kit gives you three RGB fans, a controller, mounting hardware, micro USB to internal usb cable, link cable and power (molex) cord.Unlike some of the other rgb fan kits, these have a lot more control over the led lighting. These have several light modes, color modes and could pretty much do anything you could want using the free downloadable software. Some modes you can select from included full lighted, sound control, flow, RGB, Ripple, Blink, Pulse and Wave. With the software, you also get full fan control. You can adjust your fan from silent to performance and the controller can support up to 5 fans per controller.Setup was smooth, easy and even quicker than I expected.****Make sure you mark any fans as inactive in the controller software which you do not plan to use. If you do not do this, the software will give you an controller error as it thinks any missing fans have a problem. Example, I run only three fans on each controller. Fans 4 and 5 are turned off on each via the software. In terms of quality, these feel very sturdy and well-built when you handle them. My case is a Corsair 760T full tower case and my cables are long enough to go from the front of my case to the rear – back of the case where my controller is. (They also had at least 6” length after that.) Fan speed ranges from 500 to 1500 and volume ranges from 19.8db to 24.7db. It is literally barely audible in comparison to my previous case fans. (Hydraulic bearings used.) There is also zero vibration in any of my fans and it was nice to have the long cable covered in a case to make it look better in your case. Some have complained they are expensive; however, you get what you pay for in my opinion. If I would go buy a new high performance quality pc fan at a local store, I would typically pay around $20-30. You get 3 fans with this which puts you only a few dollars more. And having the ability to control my fans as well as rgb lighting is great.Overall, I am very happy and these are doing what I expected and more in terms of color control. I would recommend this to anyone looking to do a pc mod.WISH LIST FOR THERMALTAKE-Possibly make a multi fan platform. One software that can control all models. Or at least the Riing premium and riing plus. (For those who may want to mix and match systems in a larger setup.)As with all my reviews, should this begin to have issues or fail to perform, I will update this review.

I know these fans don't have the super bright uniform glow, but that is exactly why I got them. I really like the more subdued look of the colors. I wanted to be able to look at the case and not get blinded by the light! That's fine if others prefer that look, but it wasn't for me.I am not using the controller that came with fans. I actually have all of the Thermaltake fans and cooler hooked up to the Thermaltake TT Sync controller (https://www.amazon.com/Thermaltake-Addressable-Controller-Compatible-CL-O015-PL00BL/dp/B079FYL6LM). This works great, by the way! The fan works well with the controller, and I really like the look of it. In the picture, it's the rear exhaust fan. The same fans are also on the radiator at the top, but those came with the cooler. My only gripe is I wish they sold these as single fans instead of only the 3-pack. I only needed one extra 140mm fan, but getting the 3-pack was the only way. I still have the extras, so I might see if I can sell them so someone else can enjoy them. These are great options for a more subdued, but still vibrant, RGB setup!

I got the fans and they are great. They do exactly what they are supposed to do, and come with a plethora of mounting solutions (lots of screws). My only gripe is that the software is just truly awful. It's as if they spent 10 minutes in a board meeting hastily throwing together some semblance of a control software before declaring "Mission Accomplished!" and slapping high fives while the customers who are cursed to use it suffer. I am not a programmer by any means, but maybe make it so that the options can be controlled with dropdown menus, or allow fans detected by the controller to be rearranged so that the ripple lighting effects look correct instead of the user having to crack open the PC and fumble with plugging in the cables in the right order. Furthermore, what is the point of viewing each fan in a UI that rotates like a rotunda? Just make a list with sensible UI options next to them in drop-down menus. Allow for multiple controllers to be accessed by one master menu so that changes made to one controller automatically are applied to the other. Currently, profiles save unique to each controller, meaning that if you want to keep a cool lighting set-up, you must make it multiple times across all of the controller menus and save separately. It would also be nice to be able to adjust the LED lightings to compensate for a fan that was put in the case at a different orientation; say one fan was put in 90 degrees differently than the others, making it so the RGB loop is slightly ahead of the rest of the system. Make it so that the user can adjust the position of the lights to match the rest of the case.I could go on but you get my point. It has a bunch of issues that need to be addressed. These are great fans, but the software sucks.
