CORSAIR Crystal 460X RGB Compact Mid-Tower Case, 3 RGB Fans, Tempered Glass

I like this case. The price is high, but keeping in mind it includes 3 fans which retail for over $60, the overall value is fair. I purchased this from Amazon with prime. It arrived in Sarasota wihin 48 hours. My case is the 460x with tempered glass and RGB lighting provided by the three included fans. The price has held steady at 135 for a couple of weeks.Other cases I considered seriously included the Nzxt S340 elite (VR ready); Phanteks P400 and the In Win 303.My main considerations were weight, looks, size and function (front i/o ease of build).The case was very well packaged for shipment. The retail box seems as though it could have served as the sole shipping box. It is sturdy and the case itself was kept secure by foam inserts.Sadly, the retail box was shipped inside a second, very large outer box with some brown paper on one side keeping it from moving. Happily, I did not see evidence of damage.My experience building my computer was frustrating. Many of my difficulties were rooted in the fact that my power supply is not modular. It is a honking 750 watt Cross-Fire Ready! best with four pci-e cables, two cpu cables (instead of one with a split connector), two or three molex cables, and two sata cables. With nowhere to store the unneeded cables, I was forced to forgo installing my storage hard drives for the time being. There simply is not room in the rear of the case behind the motherboard for any unused cables.My old build was:Nzxt Tempest case with [6 case fans] (full size ATX)Asus CPU self-contained water cooling with a 120 mm fan / radAsRock Pro3 Z77 ATX motherboardIntel i5-3570k cpuSapphire Tri-X R9-290 gpuSamsung 850 evo 512 gbHitachi 1 TB hddHitachi 2 TB hdd[Western Digital 640 GB hdd][5.25" Blu Ray / DVD RW drive][5.25" fan controller]The plan had been to leave the parts in [brackets] out of the new build. Turns out I had to leave out all the 3.5" hard drives so I could leave the cables bunched up in it's place. The shroud included with the case covers them nicely so it doesn't appear to be a mess. It will work, for now.Installation begins by removing the power supply / hard drive shroud and the the hard drive cage. This is the only way you will be able to install the power supply itself and this is a problem with the case. My old case was very large and perhaps I am spoiled, but the way components get in each other's way makes building and upgrading a headache. If you plan on making frequent upgrades to your gear, or simply trying new parts, then this case isn't the one for you.Cable management in the rear was difficult given the number and large size of the cables I could only hide the bare minimum needed to power the computer behind the motherboard. Even then, when I put on the rear panel it could not go on flat, but curved around mess.I recommend you purchase a modular power supply with flat cables if you intend to build with this case.The ssd cage in the rear is not well designed. It gets in the way of cable routing and you have to leave it in with all three slots even if you are only using one.The fan led controller uses a sata connection for power.The fans each use 3 pin power connectors to spin.Once everything is installed and the computer powered on, you are finally rewarded with a gorgeous apperance of your gear behind the beautiful glass enclosure. If my room is dark, you can be fooled into thinking you forgot to put the glass back on ... it really is that luxorious.I will update this review after I get a sense of noise, operating temps and ease of use.

Summary:Beautiful and well-designed case by Corsair. If you're looking to upgrade to tempered glass, this is the case to do it.Pros:- Beautiful RGB SP120 fans (three of them in fact!) with excellent lighting options for breathing, flashing (don't use), and static lighting- Excellent quality tempered glass in front and on the left hand side of the case- Incredibly fine dust filters in the bottom for the PSU, in the top for your radiator, and in the front for your intake RGB SP120 fans- Sturdy case design: does not feel flimsy or cheap- PSU and hard-drive shroud looks good and is easy to install or remove- SSD drive bay on the back of the motherboard tray is useful if you have several SSDs drives or must swap them out frequently- Top radiator support (currently fitting a 240mm H100i v2 on top with no clearance issues)- Rubber grommets- Plenty of tie-down points- Excellent instruction manual and plenty of screws for installation- Excellent airflow in this case- RGB SP120 fans are quiet as can beCons:- Very limited space for cable management space behind the motherboard tray: BEWARE- PSU and hard-drive shroud, while having a cut-out, does not allow for I/O wires to pass through easily- Had to remove the SSD drive bay to get enough room for cable management in the back- Numerous stock cables for the RGB fans, fan controller, and I/O is a bit annoying and unsightly until tidied up- Support for only two 3.5 inch HDDs, and if you want to get more cable-management space in the front of the case for I/O, the removable HDD cage will probably need to be moved or taken out entirely from the case- Fan controller controls lighting only and does not power the fans (you either need many fan headers on your motherboard or have to buy a splitter or hub)- No exhaust fan, so you better have your own or have your own radiator for exhaustWhat Could Have Been Done Better:- At this price point, a fan hub or splitter would have been really appreciated- The case could be a tad bit wider, especially on the right side for cable management: even an extra half-inch would really help with routing cables- Top case dust filter is so fine that it actually might circulate hot air in your case and not allow it to escape as designed: have caution if you are limited on fans or have absolutely no exhaust or radiator (preferably not both, you're gonna be in trouble).- Would be nice for the PSU shroud to allow PSU fans to be mounted facing up: as it is now, you have to have the PSU facing down- Would have been nice to have an included exhaust (didn't even have to be RGB)- Multiple colors of this case (grey, white, and perhaps black with accents of red/blue) would have really sold me on this chassis foreverAs much as I have a few quirks with this case, it is really beautiful, and I would buy it again. Corsair didn't disappoint.
