CPU heatsink arrived on time. But it was not new. How do I know? When I pulled it out of the box a CPU was stuck to the underside of the heatsink and the heatsink wasn’t perfectly clean. Unfortunately I needed it for a build and ended up deciding to use it because it worked okay. BTW, the CPU was a cheap Celeron 7th generation worth about $20.

I use these to replace the standard Intel fan that comes with boxed processors for commercial server rebuilds. They are easy to fit as the brackets have peel off stick pads to stick them under the Mobo until you get the screws in. The fan is quiet, reliable and significantly better at cooling Gen 8 i5 CPUs than the Intel stock fan.

I really wish I would of spent a couple more bucks and bought a quality cpu fan. This fan is so noisey its almost unbearable. I took it all apart and lubricated it and it's still noisey.

I am a very big fan (no pun intended) of the Dynatron T459 and K199 products. The T459 I use in all my mini-PC builds that require a 28mm CPU HSF. Sometimes though I have slightly larger builds like in the Apex MI-008 where the stock 54mm Intel fan won't fit but there's room for something with a larger footprint than the T459. The T459 also comes at a bit of a premium so something cheaper is nice too. When I saw this new product I really hoped it would fit the bill.Like Dynatron's other CPU HSF, this one comes in a small brown cardboard box with an easy to open flip top. Inside it sits in a little plastic tray and since this is a screw on it comes with two small brackets that attach to the back of the motherboard into which to top side screws in through the motherboard's mounting holes. The bracket design is brilliant in that it has a small plastic standoff giving a little bit of clearance to the brackets so if there are any obstacles on the back side they don't interfere with the brackets. There's a little adhesive strip on each too to hold the bracket for screwing in. These are really nice touches. Also like other Dynatron's this comes with the TIM material already applied. The TIM seems of good quality in my experience with other Dynatron HSFs.The HSF screws in easily and only takes less than 10 or so rotations with the screwdriver to have it clamped down tight. It's very easy to install and less error prone that the stock Intel HSF system where it just snaps in and is made of plastic.Where this model doesn't live up to the others is in the sound of the fan. A lower speeds there's a bit of a ticking/grinding noise that can be heard up to about 3' away. Upping the fan speed a little seems to help so this one I am running in two machines on normal speed instead of the quiet/silent speed I would run it on the T459. From beyond 3' it's not noticeable and especially once the top is installed in the Apex MI-008 case I am using for the first build with this new HSF. It's definitely not the quality of the Top Motor fan on the T459/450.I've already bought a couple more of these and installed one in our own family PC build to replace a stock Intel HSF that became noisy. I've noticed with that machine, temperatures are better than with the stock Intel HSF. This likely has to do with the much better mounting system (being a screw in versus the snap in Intel stock system). I'll definitely continue to use these in the future.
