Very easy to install. I didn't know until I got it that you can get one with a second fan. I'm ordering that for my computer as the Threadrippers runs even warmer than I thought it would. Make sure you have good airflow in the case! It works very well at stock speeds and maybe a mild overclock, but beyond that, unless you have a way to keep your computer room very cool, it will get warm. I tried the 3960x with a liquid cooler at first, but although it kept it below the throttling speed, it was getting quite warm. The standard water coolers just don't cover enough of the cpu to keep it cool.Putting it in was very easy. Cleared the memory on my Gigabyte Aorus Wifi Pro MB with no problem, but I only have four sticks of ram. If I had more, it would have hit the top of the sticks closest to the cpu and wouldn't fit. If you are planning on using more than four sticks, they had better be very low profile. Your MB may be different and have more spacing though. It cleared my video card which is in the first slot by at least 6 mm, although there is an adjustment to move it up to 6 mm higher up in the case if needed.Heatsink seems to be solid and very well made. It's tall, so check your clearance with the side of the case. I've got an old Cooler Master HAF 932 case and have four fans mounted on the side, and it still cleared with plenty of room. Even though it came with only one fan, it includes clips for a second one and a tube of thermal paste. It also comes with a short cable you can attach to the second fan to keep it at about 1200 RPM for quietness. I don't think the second fan will add that much extra noise as they are rather quiet fans and are 140 mm. They come with extra rubber isolation pads to keep the fan from vibrating against the cooler. All in all, a good product for a fair price, (considering what everything costs these days). Amazon shipping is also very quick, even without paying extra for faster shipping. I ordered it on a Wednesday evening, and it arrived on Friday about noon. I live near a large city, so your mileage may vary!

I needed something fan based (not water cooling) to manage a threadripper 5975WX Pro for a client's homelab. This turned into the perfect solution. Beefy enough that the processor heat stayed definitely low (we never broke 62C) and quiet enough that it you couldn't tell in their Antec P101 case.Noctua is well known for fantastic fans, but the quality and design itself of the heatsink that goes with this speaks volumes. Doing a laser measure of the bottom this is one of the cleanest flat cut full die CPU mounts I've seen, something that really is a solid trait. I put it under the heat sensor gun just to check, and dispersement is solid, the uplift from the mount is widespread and close to even, telling with the heat pipes themselves transporting well.Note to buyers: if you are thinking AM4, AM5, etc. this is the WRONG cooler for you! Do not buy this for that purpose, it does not come with the mounts and the base will be incorrect for your CPU! It would be a waste of your money, Noctua has options for you.In the end, while there are other good options for 2U/4U cases that can be viable (see Dynatron) those solutions tend to be VERY loud and the performance is basically teh sme or less as they have less actual heatsink and more need for airflow. In comparison to liquid solutions, if you have the option, I would use this instead. On multiple occassions I've liquid cooled Threadripper and Epyc solutions, and let me say: AIOs that claim threadripper support are almost all trash. Every single one I've tried has terrible results in comparison. A custom loop with an actual waterblock for these chips runs you 2-3 times as much and the performance gain isn't worth it. You aren't buying these chips for overclocking, you normally grab them for PCI-E lanes, for production work, and for homelab purposes if you are grabbing second hand.In other words: if you are looking for a great threadripper cooler, this is it. Note: I understand that Noctua is updating this unit to include bracket for the new Threadripper 7000 series. that was not included for me, so you might need to make sure there.
