I bought this fan for a rig using a 6850k. This cooler is dead silent; I can barely hear it with the side panel open, and even with moderate overclocking the absolute highest temp I saw was 46C, whether it's gaming or devoting full computing power to Folding@home or running benchmarks, and idle temps for basic tasks are rarely above 18C. My average temperature is like 39C under heavy load. I'm pretty impressed. It's worth mentioning that when I opened the box I noticed it had several bags of parts and they weren't clearly labeled, which might be intimidating for novice builders. Most of those parts are separate install kits for different CPU sockets, and you won't use most of them. I can't attest to the other sockets, but at least for the LGA-2011 socket, installation was quick and easy, and the mounts for other sockets also look pretty well-designed. Just pay attention to the arrows when clipping the fans back onto the radiator to keep the airflow in the correct direction, and make sure you have the fans resting on the silicone pads and not the metal radiator itself to prevent noise and optimize airflow.I'm not doing anything particularly extreme with this rig, just high-end gaming and VM testing mostly, so I didn't see the need to jump for a higher-cost cooler. Even so, this one far exceeds my expectations. It runs silently at all loads I tested it, and keeps my CPU nice and frosty. And for what it's worth, it doesn't look half bad if you have a case window.

I started by saying that I was trying to purchase a liquid cooler Corsair H55, Cooler master seidon 120 or this one. I did not want to have the big Noctua NHD14 or Phanteks PHTC14. At the end I found phanteks little brother and decided to give it a chance. I do not regret. Previously I was using an NZXT Respire T-20 for my i7 2600k. So here is what I think about this cooler:PROS* Not that big, it has dual tower heatsink but it fits inside my Cooler Master HAF 912 case.* Does not block any Ram slot or PCI E slot. Excellent clearance on a Gigabyte Z77x mobo.* Dead silent under load, I can hear it only if I approach to it very close, and all I hear is a soft humming noise.* Excellent build cooler, the fans are premium quality.* It includes two 120mm PWM Phanteks premium fans.* The easiest installation I have never seen. It took me 20 minutes from opening the box to have it installed.* Cools similar or even better than Corsair H55 or cooler master seidon water coolers!* The highest temp I've seen is 59C under full load with ambient temperature of 35C with i7 2600k overclocked @ 4.0ghz at full gaming load.* At stock settings the i7 2600k has never reach beyond 53C at full gaming load.* PATS thermal solution applied to the aluminium fins does a really good job isolating the GPU heat. With the NZXT respire T-20 I was getting 68C i7 2600k at stock and 78C overclocked @ 4.0ghz at full gaming load.* Doesn't break the bank. Premium performance for the price.CONS:* None.I made my decision based on the fact that I did not want to have liquid running inside my PC. I have read horrible things that happened for a small leak, and the liquid might fall directly to my EVGA GTX 780 card. The cooler handles moderate overclocking, for gaming, 4.0ghz for me it's fair enough depending on the game.In other words it has all the technology included in the PHTC14PE but in a small size.Highly recommended for gaming and moderate overclocking!

Bought this heatsink instead of a AIO because I was paranoid about having a leak and ruining my rig. Did a ton of research into a different heatsinks and fans. I chose this over noctua because of the color. I have a phanteks case so it made sense to get the heatsink and the black and white matched. These cooler has been quiet and brought down my temps. It keeps me in the 40s w/load. I knocked it down a star becasue the heatsink mount screws didnt want to line up with the mount brackets on the mobo and It made me work for it. It kicked my butt for 20 minutes but i was able to get it all mounted and back in the case. It is pretty large so make sure you know your cases dimensions.
