I needed a cpu cooler for an XPS 8920 and decided on the Shuriken 2 after looking for a few days. After reading forever about proprietary backplates, clearance, and what will and won't work, I decided to pick this up. The directions show that it uses their backplate for an Intel setup. That was a no go in my situation because the backplate I have has holes for the cpu mount to fasten to. On the website it shows the AMD mounts without their backplate, and just uses screws and the spacers. So if you pick up 4 3Mx20mm screws it'll mount just like the AMD does. They should just include the screws so they have everything covered. So any 8910 8920 8930 users looking for a replacement cpu cooler, this will work without having to modify your plate/mount.As for the cooler, it runs really quiet. Dropped my temps by 10c. Took about 15 mins to take the old one off, clean up the cpu, put the paste on, and install the new one. No issues with clearance. Looks good too.

R5 1600 @ 3.5 in a Geeek A50This is a beefy little thing. it runs quieter than a Noctua NF-A9x14 case fan, and honestly has great thermal performance. The thermals seem to be a little bit better than the stock Wraith Spire cooler, and has a lower clearance for SFF cases. I would recommend to a friend for sure. I wish I had a Noctua low profile cooler to compare it with but it is at least on par with some of the benchmark thermals that I've seen online. It's a little noisy at 100%, but I've never had to ramp it up that high and my temps stay under 60c when gaming at full load.Edit: I adjusted the fan curve because the noise was a little too loud for me without headphones, and there was no real reason to idle at 45c... temps are now idling at ~52c idle and I haven’t gotten a temp over ~65c under full gaming load and it’s very quiet the entire time. There’s a little noise when I’m gaming but I rarely notice it. I still stand by my 5 star review.

I just upgraded to this from a Noctua-L9. It's only a little thicker and has the same size fan (92x14mm I think) but adds 2 heatpipes and has quite a bit more heatsink surface area. This has dropped my peak temps under sustained load from 94C to 67C. I really couldn't believe how much better this performed. Also, it fits within the standard heatsink area so you don't have to worry about hitting/overhanging RAM, etc.I gave this 3 stars for mounting because they don't offer an AM4 mount. BUT, if you have an AM4 backplate already (like the one I had from my Noctua), you can use that and the rest of the hardware that comes with the Scythe to mount it on AM4. I have this running on a Mini-ITX with a Ryzen 7 2700.

Works perfect for my i5 10400 max temp was 67 while stress testing. Very quiet easy to mount and does not get in the way of my memory slots
