SilenX Effizio High Performance 120mm AMD/Intel CPU Heatsink Cooler + Fan

Very silent. Notice that the box comes with extra parts in case you happen to drop something into the air vent and before you spend 30 minutes disassembling your kitchen floor and rigging a flashlight/camera/grabber hybrid with your phone and vacuum cleaner only to have your girlfriend say 'what about these parts over here?'. Average running temp is less than 30C on my pc...

Pros: Very quiet (i.e. silent, can't really hear when it runs). Comes with thermal paste, a nice surprise. Comes with a lot of hardware (supports both AMD/Intel).Cons: Hideously difficult to install with motherboard already in system case (don't even attempt this, remove motherboard and install on flat surface). Instructions were semi-accurate and made perfect sense (in hindsight, i.e. once I finally got it installed). The fan did not come preinstalled on the heat-sink. Installing it, I thought that I was going to damage the rubber offsets that had to be pulled through small holes on the fan housing (they sent 4 spares... so i guess they were aware of the risk). The instructions called for attaching the fan to the heat-sink right away, but this blocked access to two of the four spring loaded screws (used to attach the heat-sink to the back-plate). Had to remove the fan, mount the heat-sink and then reinstall the fan. I was definitely in a foul mood after the ordeal.In summation, getting this heat-sink in place soaked up more total time than getting the entire rest of a new system build. I do a few of these a year and I like how quiet the unit is once installed... so I might order the product again (but not until some of the trauma fades).

Bought this from a local vendor (needed it immediately, sorry Amazon!) and I couldn't be happier. This is simultaneously the most efficient and quietest cooler I've used in years. This is better-performing and remarkably less expensive than flashy fans and heatsinks which do little more than add gamer bling to your machine.This WILL require you to apply a bracket to the back-side of your motherboard in order to mount it. Comes with plenty of hardware to fit any motherboard, and additional mounting hardware to let you mount an additional 120mm fan (you'll have to supply the fan).

Easy installation. Cools well. Quiet.
