before even buying it i contacted the seller "tiger direct" and asked them if "as advertised" the bracket for 1366 comes with this cooler, they said "of course if its advertised then it will come with it" when i got it, to my surprise it didn't have that bracket for 1366 and now its a useless junk that i cant use, i don't understand how could this happen for the first time for me from amazon, the item it self looks good but what could i do with it without the bracket right now is just keep it like that for nothing or just throw it in the trash...

Keeps my cpu at room temperature. I would recommend use with arctic silver paste, the cheap crap they give you isn't very good. The cpu fan can be driven from the motherboard or from molex with a speed control potentiometer. MAKE SURE your case is big enough to fit this thing. IT IS HUGE. Make sure there is enough room above the motherboard for this thing, but also enough room around the cpu, especially between the cpu socket and the pci slots. I nearly had an issue with the heatsink touching the top of my graphics card. My only other complaint is that it can be a little difficult to clean because of all the fins (which collect dust like crazy). When you try to remove it to clean it with canned air, you are likely to poke yourself on the fins, or get caught on one of them and bend it out of shape. Be careful around the fins. Overall though, I would buy this cooler again. It looks awesome in my case with the blue leds.

Previously, when encoding video I'd hit as high as 182 F with my i7 920 processor (stock, not OC; in a highly ventilated case). I would idle at 96 F or so. This in a Fresno, CA summer, so ambient temperature in the room is from 80-92.I had some concerns regarding this fan, and am glad to say they seem meritless to me now.1) The bracket for a socket 1366 fits just fine. I can't imagine what others are encountering. EBKAC, I suspect.2) I did not have to remove my motherboard to install this fan. Though I would have been okay with it if I did have to. I also did not cut my widdle fingers, either.3) I DID use Arctic Silver 5 thermal paste instead of whatever this came with. I would suggest anybody else do the same.It has been in my machine for 45 minutes or so now. My new idle temp, with the fan an about 85% (and I can't hear it over the other household noise), is about 86 F. That's a huge drop. I'm more or less at ambient temp right now. More substantially, under the same video encoding loads, I have gone from 178-182 F to 116-122! I am so happy about this! Hey, I may even overclock this puppy now...If I feel the need to adjust this review for purposes of longevity, or having the thing fall off my motherboard, then I will. But I'm convinced that any troubles others have been citing rests not with this product, but their attention to detail and/or installation skills.EDIT: 9/02/11Just thought I'd inform those curious, I've moved the computer from room to room at least 3 times now, not including moving within the same room, and lo and behold, the fan held. I've never had uncomfortably high temps occur since I installed, and this includes ripping and re-encoding blu-ray discs. I have yet to feel the need to overclock, so haven't attempted that, but am confident this can handle it. That and the fact it looks so purty, 5 stars!

This is a fan I got for my i7 959 cpu, which is a 1366 socket. The fan does not fit on the cpu! Other than this, the cpu looks cool, but is very easily dented so be carefull when handling. The return was easy, and quick.
