this was purchased to replace a stock cooler on an FX-6300. CPU and stock cooler had been put away for quite a few years until needed for a special needs build. original stock cooler just seemed a little insufficient for light overclocking, and the UpHere cooler seemed like a good one to try being very economical and having some nice lighting. the mounting clip could have been easier with a locking lever like i have seen in others, but the "clip" method is actually something that we used to have on all coolers before computers were cool and everybody got into trying to build their own, so the clip method was familiar and works just fine if you do it correctly. anyway the cooler works great for light overclocking on the FX-6300 and dropped the temperature vs. the stock cooler by a good 15-20 degrees. that probably shows that the original stock cooler wasn't working as well as it did when it was new, but no worries this new cooler does a fine job and looks nice with the ring of lights on the fan. i don't think i would have gained much in cooling performance by spending twice the amount this rig costs, so it was a great solution to replace the stock cooler, looks nice, works properly, and didn't very easy on the wallet. i would definitely recommend to anyone looking for replacement cooler and doing a little light overclocking.

I have purchased two of these, one for an AMD motherboard and the other for an LGA 775 motherboard. This cooler was very easy to install on the AMD system, though it was a little tight. To install it on the LGA 775 motherboard was a little tricky, but using screws to mount it to the motherboard worked great. Both systems were upgraded to more powerful CPU's, and yet they both run cooler than before.I have no complaints, this cooler is quiet, looks fantastic, and keeps my CPU cool.

As soon as I opened it from the box, I found it very simple to install. I've ran it for a little over a month with no problems and it does an "ok" job at keeping my cpu cool. (Granted I have the 8700k and should probably be using something else.) For the price with a simple cpu I'd say it's great but if you're trying to run a higher end machine this will barely keep it at a safe level (but still "does the job"). I've noticed that it now makes a weird grinding sound as if when it starts running too quick the fan is loose or blades grind against the case of the fan from being loose maybe? Though still operates as needed.Pros: Great price for most standard CPU's, Very quiet when operating properly.Cons: Fan may be loose and at random cause weird grinding noise.I give 4 stars because for most standard CPU's this is a fan I would recommend. The looseness from the fan may be from it trying to operate faster with my current setup to keep it cool and do not hold this accountable as there could be many reasons for this.

didn't come with instructions. As someone who has limited experience in building PCs, this particular piece of hardware was extremely frustrating to install. Perhaps it was meant to have instructions, and I was unfortunate enough to not have received them. Regardless, it is exceedingly simple to install once you know how to do it (albeit, after almost snapping my motherboard in half).Push the clear pieces into one of the 3 slots on each corner of the round black base (depending on the distance between the holes on your motherboard), then snap the clear pieces with the base into the holes onto the motherboard itself and push the black plastic pins in to secure it. Then apply a drop or two of thermal paste to your cpu, lower the cooler onto it hooking one of the metal strips to the notch on the round black base, and gently push down on the other side of the lower metal part of the heat-sink (not the whole thing) and secure the other metal strip to the base on the opposite notch. Thus far the cooler seems to work well, and the fan doesn't make any more noise than the other fans in my system. Apart from the annoying lack of directions, the thing seems pretty dang solid.
