I wish there was a way to turn off the blue LEDs, but I bought this in a pinch after a motherboard failure to avoid running new hard line tubing. It worked great in a pinch and kept the cpu cool enough for every day tasks. I probably wouldn't use it for any time of overclock and I wish the lights could be turned off, but it was cheap and it worked so I have zero complaints.

It's good looking, all black, and it cools really well for it's price. I really like this cooler and have used two of them in my builds. The mounting system is a bit finnicky but nothing that is too difficult.

I got this for an old computer I'm fixing up for a family member. Its a socket LG 1155 with a i7 2600. It had a liquid cooler that died and I didn't want to spend a lot to replace it. This was the cheapest fan I could find that seemed to be of decent quality. Though I used to build a lot of PCs 20 years ago, I've only used liquid coolers recently and never had one of the heat sinks that stand off the chip like this. The install was pretty easy inside my crowded case. However I did not like the plastic mounting bracket and plastic pegs to hold it onto the motherboard. It doesn't feel very secure to me and the pegs pull out will just a little pressure. I'll probably go back and bolt it in to be safe but I didn't have any hardware on me. Also the wire clips that hold the fan on the heatsink are very cheap. That was my biggest issue as I had to take the fan off to fit my hands in there and it was very hard to clip on afterwards-- they kept falling off. For a computer that stays in place it should be fine, but I don't completely trust it, especially with a huge heatsink and the fan vibration. I'll definitely check it each time I open or move my pc. Anyway, the good news is the heatsink is keeping my CPU nice and cool (39 C max and about 27 C on average) which I believe is lower than my liquid cooler, but that was old, corroded and leaking. All in all, I think it may be a little louder, but just barely. The blue light is kind of annoying, but I can see how some people might like it and its not too hard to disable. I would buy this again but I would definitely use something better than the plastic pegs.

Good alternative to a liquid cooler.Enclosed water cooling becomes untenable when they're expected to run 24x7 as is the case with our home server.Good replacement, and the fan is replaceable unlike the water pump in an enclosed liquid cooling system. Much easier to maintain over liquid cooling.
