No matter what cpu you use in this if you try to update the bios it will almost certainly brick your motherboard. If your uefi bios version is 5.8, which is what these normally ship with, you motherboard will only support Ryzen 3rd generation cpu's or their apu equivalent. It will run on a 2nd generation(pinnacle ridge) but will crash constantly. 1st generation Ryzen CPU's and their APU counterparts will not run on any uefi bios version that is 5.0 or above. Also 3rd generation Ryzen will not run if the uefi version is 7.0 or above or 5.6 or below. If you find this confusing and annoying then welcome to the club. The problem is that the uefi bios is only large enough to support 2 generations at a time, but only partially supports the earlier generation, causing constant crashes. Also you cannot use a cpu from one generation to update the bios to support the next generation. It will brick the bios and the motherboard for some reason, so if you have a cpu that works without crashing constantly don't try updating the bios and if you replace the cpu make sure the next cpu is of the same generation. This motherboard is also notorious for being bricked simply by updating the bios, even when the cpu supports the updated bios.I bricked one board because it was running buggy with a Ryzen 2700x cpu and the next bios didn't support that cpu, so it went into a boot loop. Did some research and bought a 3rd generation Ryzen to replace the 2700x but then I found out that the way the board is designed causes it to automatically corrupt the bios if the wrong cpu is used while updating, which is obnoxious.I received a refund and bought another one of these and my 3rd gen ryzen work excellently with it.I do not recommend buying this motherboard. It works great for me now only because of the tremendous amount of research I had to do after bricking the first one. Most Asrock motherboards do not have the kind of problems this one has, mostly because of its limited rom.Asrock shouldn't even make bios roms available for this board because from what I have read they brick the board over 80% of the time, for no apparent reason.Nice board if you already have a cpu compatible with whatever uefi version it has.

Have had this board since 2018 and it's still kicking. For the last upgrade, I sucessfully installed a Ryzen 7 5700 x3d (update the BIOS is a must). The attached screen shots are proof.

Haven't had any issue unlike the msi gaming pro carbon x370 motherboard. This is a great motherboard.
