On a build I was going all out on, I bought this particular mobo because it delivered in a few areas that no other mobos offered:-Integrated liquid cooling for VRMs-Extra support backplate (to really give you that beefy yet safe feeling)-LCD screen (not necessary but a nice extra feature to have and monitor those CPU temps)My first ASUS mobo ever but everyone else seems to support them and after a year of using mine so do I. Not one issue with it while running a non-delidded 8700k (overclocked to 5.0Ghz). BIOS is super easy to navigate if you want to really fine tune your settings. Otherwise with a few clicks you can have the BIOS pick optimized settings (based off your input to a few questions) or use one of ASUS's presets. One other thing I'll add is I really love the constant updates from ASUS's support page in regards to drivers/downloads for everything just to always keep their product and features up-to-date.Only thing I'm not really keen on is the RGB Aura Sync software. It works just fine for me but feels restricted on options. Also say if you want to use Corsair or TT RGB fans you will either need a controller to adapt them for Aura Sync or you will have to run separate software to control them. One last thing I'll add is that if you are buying a Formula but have no intention of utilizing the integrated liquid cooling you might as well save yourself a few $$$ and hop to the next model below. Minus the VRM cooling, metal back support and I'm not sure if any other models have the LCD, all the remaining features are the same.Overall minus the high (but justifiable) price tag this thing is great and never given me any issues.Build specs:Core i7-8700KASUS ROG Maximus X FormulaSapphire Radeon RX Vega 64CORSAIR DOMINATOR Platinum Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4 DRAM 3000MHzEVGA SuperNOVA 850watt G2Creative Sound Blaster Recon3D THX PCIE Sound Card SB1350Thermaltake Core P90Cooling Parts Vary: Thermaltake Res+Pump combo, XSPC Raystorm Neo CPU block, EK GPU Vega Block, EK Fittings, AlphaCool 480mm Radiator, Thermaltake Riing RGB Fans, Thermaltake Sync Controller, Thermaltake PETG 16mm tubing

I got this quite some time ago as I was looking for a top-of-the-line motherboard. The MSI Z370 Godlike Gaming, which was the one I originally wanted, was nowhere to be found (and I learned after that it was because MSI was developing the Z390 revision). Thus, I "settled" for the ASUS ROG Maximus x Formula, and let me tell you, it was well worth it.My previous experience with the X99 Rampage V Edition 10 was less than stellar. Even though it was stable, it sometimes had random crashes, BIOS updates were sparse and to top it off, the DAC it came with didn't even work for reasons not even ASUS knew, even after days of viewing forums and trying strange 'possible fixes' that I found. However, the experience with this motherboard is a vastly different experience.Firstly, it's stable out-of-the box, but it only gets better with the BIOS updates (I'm currently running 2203) and I can't remember the last time I crashed (apart from when I overclock and stress-test). Temps are comfortable (as low as they can get in the humid, hot environment that is Costa Rica), the OSD is useful for when you're gaming and don't want to alt-tab (a minor use, but still appreciated), and the integrated waterblocks, NVMe heat spreader and overclocking stability is just icing on the cake. A 5GHz all-core overclock is easily achievable with my 8086k (1.315V), and I'm sure I could get it down if I tried finding the settings I had before (1.280V), but that took literal weeks of strenuous testing and adjusting, so I just tend to leave it where it is. Oh, and for the record, I haven't yet delidded my 8086k, so there's still room to work with.Overall, a true joy to have and overclock with, even if you do take a hit to the wallet.UPDATE April 18th 2021I got a 9900K a couple of months ago and I just popped it in (my BIOS was up-to-date) and it works great. I haven't seen a single bottleneck and it's been a breeze. Might try OC'ing it when I get the chance.Edit: The MB died in 2020 when OC'ing the 9900K. Even ASUS didn't repair it, they just sent me a new one after I RMA'd it. I tried easier overclocks on this one but it seems to have taken a hit since my PC is stuttering super often now.

One of the best board i have ever owned , I recently upgraded from 4790k and ASUS ROG MAXIMUS VII FORMULA to 8700k and this board , let me tell you the difference is night and day over 40 fps difference with the same GPU ,this motherboard has everything you can ask for , the bios that shipped with the bard is rock solid i was able to overclock my 8700k to 5.1 using 1.31 v core , WiFi is very fast first boot no issue windows was installed in less then 5 min with Samsung EVO 960 , i have ran every single bench and test and board is rock soil would recommend 100%

Very nice and high quality, a few scratches on the stickers they put on to look like metal that easily comes off, but otherwise it is fantastic, cant say how good it is to install since I dont have anything put the motherboard into.
