Using it with the Intel 10980XE for 48 PCIe lanes. It's a solid motherboard. Stable. No weirdness during or after reboots.Thunderbolt header? Run for your life. So, stupid.I tried with the ASUS ThunderboltEX 3. Junk.I tried it with the Gigabye TITAN RIDGE 2.0. Incompatible. There's not a bios setting or update on earth that can make it compatible. You'd have to hack your own firmware, and then re-hack it if Windows updates make your firmware incompatible.Luckily, I found the Sonnet Allegro 8-Port USB C 3.2 gen 2 8 PCIe lane PCIe 3.0 card for 399.99 as of this writing. Now, I don't have to think about thunderbolt anymore. The only reason I needed it was to increase my USB ports using CalDigit TS4 & TS3. Now, I'm golden using this USB 8 port add-in-card (AIC). No TITAN RIDGE, NO TS3 & 4.EUFI BIOS updates were a cinch. I had to turn off CSM before installing windows. Then I was able to use GPT drives and run Reusable Bar (all of your GPU ram will be dedicated to games or vMix, etc.) If you don't do this before installing Windows. You'll have to wipe all your work away, and reinstall all your stuff. Learn from me! It took two weeks of reinstalls to figure out what was wrong. So backward!!!

I repadded all cooling blocks on the board with thermal grizzly pads but this just makes a minor difference.Cooling block of the PCH still gets quite hot (+50C thermal camera) and the heatpipe fins of the PCH & 10Gb chip look nice but are not very functional on a vertical mounted MB.Cooling fins of the VRM's look better mounted but the secondary MB power cables block the airflow on this.A couple of RAM coolers takes care of more airflow; NOT for the RAM but for these heatpipe fins... :-)__Bought 4x8GB = 32GB G.Skill Aegis DDR4 3000 works perfectly but does not like overclocking.___intel i9 7900X is a bit tricky; only standard values are ok, outside this the MB tends to crash.intel i9 7820X seems to accept more options.PS; (7900 gives 16 more lanes than 7820...)
