The i3-6100T is a great little processor that balances performance and wattage. I'm using it in a recent fileserver build, and it runs cool and smooth. The chip on its own consumes very little power, around 5W at idle according to Intel RAPL. Even under load at 3200 MHz, the power consumption does not reach its specified TDP of 35W, instead it maxes out at 20W. This is good (for me) because it reduces the amount of heat produced and hence fan noise. The additional support for DDR4 ECC makes this chip good for use in a data integrity-centric environment.PROS- low-power chip with great performance to wattage ratio- supports DDR4 ECC- based on widely supported LGA1151 socket- affordableCONSN/ASUGGESTED IMPROVEMENTS- Turbo Boost not supported. Although Turbo Boost does increase the TDP of the chip, I would reason that most systems would be able to cope with the momentary increase in wattage. I believe that TB would be helpful for when the system is under load and can benefit from the little kick in clock speed.Overall, the chip is good for people looking to build a low-power, quiet and cool system that can run 24 hours a day without incurring ridiculously high electricity bills.

Simple SSD and mini ITX build with a 90W laptop style power supply using on board graphics averages power consumption of only 12-15 watts! Very fast with Windows 10. Using primarily for teleconferencing, cannot speak to gaming abilities. Would make an outstanding HTPC build option, on board graphics would handle that fine unless you want more than 1080P.

Snappy, modern and low power.Used this guy for a low power HTPC.Absolutely exactly what I needed and wanted.

Does what a processor needs to do. Fast, quiet and efficient.
