I used this in a FreeNAS build. After burn-in of the CPU, RAM, and motherboard, this system has been running 24/7 for the last year w/ no issues. Using the stock CPU fan, this build has been very quiet and power efficient and is a very capable performer for network storage with FreeNAS. I also run Subsonic (music streaming) and Plex (connects to Amazon Fire TV which requires no transcoding with Kodi) and have not run into any resource issues.

This processor is excellent for budget and beginner builds, as most games really only depend on the quality of your graphics card. This processor will get you up and running at a reasonable cost.Update: I forgot to mention that (as you would expect if you were a PC gamer), this processor is not all that great at Physics-intense processes. If you are not cultured in the world of computers, you might ask why I included a section about physics processing. This is because the only thing graphics cards do is in specialty of loading in textures, light objects, cameras, polygons, etc. whilst your processor deals with "How will this happen?" and "If this object is passing at a velocity of [insert value here], how will the impact occur?". Though computers cannot think like this, this is my representation of how it works in layman's terms.

Great bang for the buck but ultimately an overvalued under-performer. Very fast single threaded performance, very poor multi-core performance. Not an i5, but comparable in some areas.Initially I purchased this Processor with intent to pair with an an Nvidia Gtx 660, the results I received pairing the two were adequate but only temporarily. I was really pushing towards not having to buy an I5 processor but the lack of multiple cores really reflected in some newer titles, and overall the general performance of the computer. My previous purchase was an i5-4590k and while that was overclocked I can say, reliably, that the single threaded performance when compared to this processor is undeniably close. Maybe not right on the money, and the i5 really does shine when application start using those extra cores, but most if not all of the older titles were bottle necked by the Nvidia Gtx 660 GPU.Again, I was not satisfied with the performance however and opted to return the processor in favor of the newer i5-6600k. While I am not currently using any overclock for this CPU, I can undoubtedly say that the performance increase in newer titles like GTA 5 and MGS V was phenomenal. Years ago I suppose we could get away with a higher clocked dual core chip, maybe in the days of Phenom II and Tri-Core Processors were still a thing, but not anymore. In conclusion I also ditched the Gtx 660 GPU in favor of a newer R9 390. These two upgrades made a huge impact on my performance and I am no longer being bottle necked by any component at resolutions of 1080p and 1440p.

This is a very good processor, I got the wrong one it was not compatible with my motherboard. I needed a Intel 8th Gen Core i3-8100 Processor.
