I put this into an ASUS x99 Deluxe II and have run pretty much every modern OS on it, with very good success. My primary usage is for building software (Android apps.) While many think a $1,000+ processor is a bit extreme (I was previously in that boat) I can assure you for the right use cases it makes a world of difference. To justify it, I built the same app on the latest 15" Retina MacbookPro, 2015 Razer Blade, a Skylake desktop, and plenty of lesser hardware. The best machine (Skylake desktop) was 2.5x slower than this processor. I normalized memory and disks to really isolate the processor and was just floored by this outcome. It might not sound like a lot but saving 30 minutes of literally sitting and waiting turns into billable work hours. In just a month thats 1-2 additional working days, paying off the entire investment.I suspect other compiled software environments would respond accordingly and from my very basic video, audio, and photo usage I find it excels in pretty much every area. Gaming is about the same as the Skylake desktop using the exact same video cards in SLI, but I don't go too crazy with demanding games/settings.

I got this to replace a 6 core Broadwell CPU. They are pin compatible, but I forgot to upgrade my BIOS before I had the CPU installed. Luckily, EVGA furnished a BIOS chip for free, and replacing the original BIOS was simple. For some, unknown reason, probably user induced, the OS couldn't find the boot device after I installed the BIOS so I had to reinstall Windows, etc. I have a gadget that displays the cores and virtual cores, so its pretty neat to see 16 cores. I haven't done any testing to push it to its limits, but for my applications, it idles along at 2 or 3% and kills my 4 core laptop in doing the same things.I was anxious to see how it performed on the Windows User Experience index. My Broadwell came in at 7.8; I was expecting to thoroughly peg 7.9. Unfortunately, the best I can tell, the CPU has more cache on it than the User Experience Index software can handle. Every time I ran the test, I got a Memory Tuning error, and the process would quit. Broadwell CPUs had the same problem, which was caused by "too much" cache, and Service Pack 1 fixed the problem. I have SP 1 in, and the problem persists. Its been a while since I had my Broadwell CPU installed, and used a 4 core laptop in between, and all opinions are strictly subjective, but this CPU in the same chassis, with everything but the cooler, and the socket the video card is in, are the same, and the Haswell seems noticeably faster than the Broadwell.I got this on a significant discount; a 10 core Haswell would have been close to twice the price of what I paid for this 8 core beast. I'm expecting great things with it when I get my FSX:Steam reinstalled.I have an EVGA X99 Classified MB. It comes with several utilities, including E-Leet, which is a Windows based over-clocking utility. Actually, it's better than using the BIOS. I even saw the multiplier optimization work. The hotter cores get a lower default multiplier, but E-Leet allows you to modify them. Their original settings showed some at 40x, and others slowly declining in value, so that all the cores ran at about the same temperatures. I adjusted them so they were all at 40x, and the less efficient cores run slightly hotter. (I'm using a gadget to monitor CPU core temps.)

Very fast. Lots of PCI-E lanes, but way way too expensive. The only reason I didn't get Ryzen, is because it's new, and I needed stability... however, my 2nd editing PC is going to definitely be Ryzen.

I had i7-6800k processor and upgraded to the i7-6900k and what difference working with Adobe Premier. The multitasking in multiplies applications and gaming is unbelievable, I got from Amazon within a week and pop in with no issues.Even though I got from for less that thousands of dollars the final cost was just little over thousand dollars. Bit pricy but well worth purchase. Don't think I'll step to the i9 processor anything soon this processor can handle everything that I through at it.My Rig configuration:Asus ROG PG348Q Black 34" 3440 x 1440, 100 Hz Curved IPS G-Sync 21:9 WQHD Gaming Monitor32 GB G.
