Update after 1 year and 3 months. still works as new and FAST.Update after 8 months: still works as new and FAST. so far, the best modification I have done to this PC for speed. I will be content with the speed, and boot up/shut down times of this PC until something major breaks and I'm forced to replace.Update after 3 weeks: Still working perfectly. Really glad I upgraded. Fast!I have an 2018 HP w/ i3-7100 3.9ghz dual core desktop (Model: 580-010) with an 8k graphics card, 16gb of ram (upgraded), and SSD drives (boot and storage SSD drives). I don’t game. I mostly surf the web, watch HD videos, some light video/photo editing. I want the best image possible and I want the PC run FAST! Running windows 10, it’s already fast enough. Start up and shut down times lag a little compared to the newer PC’s with windows 11 that seem to start up/shut down almost instantly. Regarding the CPU swap, I looked into updating my Odense2-K motherboard however I had the newest version of the software so no BIOS update needed. I removed the old CPU, wiped the thermal paste off the heat sink w/ rubbing alcohol, laid down the new i7, applied a pea size amount of new thermal paste. Screwed back on the heat sink and fan. Booted up perfectly. I noticed immediately improved speeds overall. Windows loads 50% faster. Programs load much faster. It’s easier to browse the web because everything is INSTANT, and smooth. And I’m a "fast clicker" so I want it be super responsive. Again, the i3 wasn’t slow or sluggish, but there was a very slight delay. With the i7 chip, everything is SUPER fast. Also, I don’t game so I can’t comment on that but if you’re looking for a boost in your HP computer and know this CPU is COMPATIBLE and the price is around $100-$135, I’d highly recommended. $350 is too much. If you don’t have ssd’s yet I’d recommend that modification first. It’s pretty easy with Samsung SSD’s using their free software “magician” or something and a huge difference in speed. Hopefully this processor will last. It was an open box and came with only the chip. Looked pretty new to me. I’ll update the review as time passes.

New product in blister pack, comes with Intel cooler. Upgraded an Acer Aspire TC-780 ACKi3 (i3-7100) to this i7-7700. UserBenchmark sites this as a 34% upgrade in CPU performance. Dropped right in, plug-and-play ready with CMOS reset. This CPU, along with an SSD boot drive and 32Gb RAM upgrades, made a 7-y/o Win10 machine very snappy for desktop use. As for gaming, it runs a simple GTX 1650 just for the DirectX12/FPS graphics upgrade over the limited integrated graphics, but is very playable @1080p with older games like New Vegas and Skyrim. Works extremely well for casual games. Worth the investment to prolong the life of a family PC, in my case.

Great processor working Pro Tools and Cubase. Fast and stable. Software synths and samples load fast, chews through projects be it keyscape or ominsphere, kontakt player etc... without sweat. This multi-tasking marvel, also works a charm in astrophotography, working as a tracking system controlling a apochromatic triple refractor telescope. This processor i7-7700, comes with the intel stock cooing fan which is more than sufficient to cool this processor. So you may not need to buy an aftermarket cooler.... i did... I chose to go with cooler master's g100m because it is gorgeous and silent in the studio, all the while, putting on a led light show in the studio while writing music and editing videos or tracking galaxies. it helps bring some color in the usually dark studio environment and it keeps the i7-7700 cool even under load while maintaining silence in the studio. For what I do, the intel core i7-7700 is a great song writer and a wonderful telescope tracking system. Thank you Intel!
