works great , and supports up to 44 PCIe lanes just what i needed and good base clock speed of 3.8 GHz up 4.5 GHz as my bios confirms this.I did not need to use all 8 cores so i set my bios settings to use 6 cores at 4.5 GHz and my pc works perfect.I have no need to overclock this processor,i am happy with the 4.5 GHz.

This is the 8-core they should have released 3 years ago (when Xbox released their 8-core 4k gaming). We need more power in 4k renders. Quad-core is good for 1080p - and Octa-core is good for everything else. The Single / Multi-core speeds are excellent at all levels; most likely do to excellent thermal management, large SMART Cache, fine tuned Speed-Step technology, and AVX 512 for heavy vectorization. It's a BORING processor out-of-the box: 4.5 GHz on two cores; 4.1 on all cores; 3.8 when High Performance is set in the Power Management (absolutely no throttling) - but the temps are much lower in this series. Single core is best managed thru Turbo Boost 3.0. My Temperatures stay below 50C / 122F (with an ambient room temp of 20C / 68F); standard Corsair 110i (AIO) water cooling. I use a Corsair 540 box case with ML140 fans (FYI). DO NOT skimp on cooling!!!I recommend that you select the Motherboard and Power supply carefully (myself: EVGA 750 Platinum & ASUS Sabertooth Mark 2 - BIOS 1602 is a must). Go bigger with power if you add a second graphics card. Thermal throttling has many variables (the biggest: poor power rails, poor cooling, and DUST). That's right - I said DUST.CONS: I got the Amazon / Suggested Retail - so I'd be lousy to call this expensive; but - INTEL is squeezing every penny out of this sucker. WE NEED affordable 4k power INTEL - and your prices are Atrocious (8-core arrived with Xbox One? So, why the hijacking on prices?)Overall: very satisfied with this purchase and the performance

I was told my CPU was bad, but it wasn't. There was another problem that didn't involve the CPU, so I had to return this. The seller credited me quickly with no questions asked. I appreciate that.

This processor works great and provides me twice the work as my old one (875k). Very happy as i was on a budget and this cpu works great. I haven't needed to overclock it to get the performance i need in stock configuration.
