So the hard drive in my Toshiba C855D has finally started to fail so I thought I would give this SSD a try. The laptop is as old as mammoth poop but this new drive works just fine in it.Yes it has a plastic case but that is fine. The hard drives that have a bunch of moving parts that need a milled aluminum enclosure to mount the moving bits and pieces is not needed. A word of caution, do not cinch down the mounting screws with the hand of King Kong as you will strip out the threads. The laptop definitely boots much more quickly and the programs also run faster.Time will tell how well this drive works out. For now it gets 5 stars as I am very pleased with the results I have received. If it craps out earlier than it should I will change my rating.I am running Linux Mint 19.1 XFCE 64 bit edition. On my system the operating system uses the whole drive and the DRAM for file swapping. Freaked me out at first but according to what I read this is normal for a SSD drive on Linux, I am not sure how it plays out on something like M$ Windows and the Mac OSThank you.

I have several Adata drives they have proved to be very reliable and fast they stand behind their products for warranty and prices are very reasonable. That being said I think they are a very good buy. All drives I have perform very well and are inline with the specs several I have had for years and they receive heavy use more than most people will put on one in a lifetime. Example is above it has almost "32 petabytes" of data written so far and is still going strong.

Decently fast, got mine under 20$, TLC, overall good value. Though I also reviewed a 240gb QLC model also from Adata that was a few bucks more and slightly slower but honestly would reccomend that over this one. Having double the space for only a marginal increase in price is worth it in my eyes and the speed difference wasnt noticeable to me at all ( Ironically, the mostly used qlc drive felt faster than this one which had the better computer).TLDR: If you are just getting a bare minimal ssd for say a browser machine, this is great. If you intend to do anything else on the pc, id advise getting the slightly more expensive 240gb qlc one.

Not complaining for the 20 bucks I spent, but it DOES run hot. I installed this in a 3 year old HP laptop as a replacement for a failed hybrid drive. Literally popped it in, turned it on and the thing just works, plenty fast too! After reading reviews on here, I decided to let it run for 6 hours to see what happened.. It DID get hot, however not overly warm for the HP, as the heat surround on the HP is all metal and works great to disapate the heat to the fan.. Cheaper laptops..... well if its touching plastic all day, it is probably going to deform it. OVerall, I like the drive for the price point and performance, just be aware it does run hot.
