The Sabrent Rocket Q 2TB NVMe SSD is a good choice as an Apple Time Machine drive for data backup. My system is a 2018 15 in. MacBook Pro with 2.2GHz 6-core i7 drive, 16 GB RAM, and a 1TB SSD internal drive, running Catalina macOS 10.15.4. For more than a year, I had been using a 4TB WD MyPassport external drive for Time Machine backups, but I grew frustrated with its sloooooow data transfer.I bought the Rocket Q and installed it in an SSK aluminum enclosure (ASIN B07MNFH1PX). The installation was easy and the drive was running as soon as I plugged the USB-C cable into my Mac. I did have to reformat the drive using the Disk Utility app, but that only took a minute or two.Setting the drive up for Time Machine was easy also. All I had to do was open Time Machine in System Preferences, click on "Select Disk...", and follow the on-screen instructions. More detailed instructions can be found on Apple's website. The initial backup of the full 277 GB of data on my internal drive only took 45 minutes. The one-time encryption of the drive took another three hours. This is a huge improvement over initial backup and encryption with my WD MyPassport, which started one afternoon, ran overnight, and into the next morning. Now that the Rocket Q drive has received the initial backup and encryption, the maintenance backups only take a minute or two. The WD drive, in contrast, could take more than an hour to perform a single routine backup. That's an extraordinary improvement! The only caveat I offer is that the initial backup and encryption made the Rocket Q heat up to the extent that I was worried it would shut down. So I placed the drive atop a block of Blue Ice, and that kept the temperature under control. The regular hourly backups also generate a lot of heat, but nowhere near as much as for that first set-up. I'm looking into swapping the SSK enclosure for something that has cooling fins. Or maybe I'll use thermal glue to attach heatsink fins to the SSK.That issue aside, this Rocket Q is extraordinarily efficient to the point at which I don't even realize that it's there. I'm really happy I invested in it.Update 11/22/20: After seven months, this system is still working well. I solved the heat problem by using Gennel thermal glue to attach Antrader Aluminum Heatsink cooling fins to the SSK enclosure. That seems to dissipate the heat effectively.

Really like this Sabrent m.2 SSD pcie 3 2tb SSD. Its the best game drive I have ever had. QLC flash memory is plenty fast for it. Most people don't even recommend spending more for such faster drives because you don't get so much performance for your purchase. For me, maybe just me, I get more performance because I feel these drives actually work and I bet they last. Older SSD drives do not show up for me in bios or windows and I'm tired of dealing with them. When they worked they broke down too soon. I'm connecting straight to the motherboard now, no faulty wires!-2TB is a good size drive to hold a ton of games, even huge ones these days- Always had trouble with SSD drives by sata chord, they don't show up at all or don't last long. So far the twoSabrent m.2 SSD NVME drives I've installed were easy to set up and worked perfectly. Not really any cons so far. Seems to touch on on high temperatures while downloading big games on steam. But the lowest of the higher temperatures that was making my ARGB temperature adjusting lights stay yellow and ocationally turn red for a short time and fluctuate back to yellow. I think it peaks just into the red just into like 65 degrees celsius. So prob not getting too super hot just touching into the lower side of the hot spectrum. Just something to be aware of when downloading.

this is the second product i get from Sabrent , the first one was 4TB Rocket 4 Plus NVMe 4.0 Gen4 PCIe M.2 Internal SSD Extreme Performance Solid State Drive R/W 7100/6600MB/s (SB-RKTSabrent 4TB Rocket 4 Plus NVMe 4.0 Gen4 PCIe M.2 Internal SSD , and it was perfect in all aspects .this time i ordered the Sabrent Rocket Q 2TB NVMe PCIe M.2 2280 Internal SSD High Performance Solid State Drive and until now it didn't disappoint in any way , although i have to say that the shipment took long time time to arrive but i understand this specially at this time .the part was very easy and direct to install and also it ran perfectly with windows 10 with no issues , the speed is outstanding even for a normal SSD and the writing speed , heat and overall performance was on the note .highly recommended price for quality comparing to other brands .

I've spent well over a thousand on purchasing Sabrent SSD's and this is by far one of the best and competitive SSD's I ever used. They are not only competitive in pricing but quite reliable. I usually buy two at a time to configure them to Raid 0 and every laptop I own runs very fast and smooth. Excellent choice for gamers.
