I have had this hard drive for over a year and it's great. It works well and store so much. Will buy again for my next computer. It was very easy to install. It came well packaged, and shipping was fast.

The large cache size makes these drives good performers despite the slow platter rotation speed. I've used four of these in a zfs raid NAS backup device for the last two years WITHOUT ANY ISSUES. I have two other ones in Desktops for storage that haven't had any problems either. Whether these come DOA depends as much on your delivery person/service as it does on Seagate manufacturing. The way they come packed, a hit to the side or bottom of a box will be absorbed without any problems. Any hits to corners in diagonal vectors will transmit the hit to the drive. There's not much that can be done about this except packing them in inches of loose popcorn. And delivery services aren't consistent either. With Amazon's generous return policy, don't worry. Back in the mid 2000's I did send a smaller drive back to Seagate for warranty service, which was slow and painful--but what warranty claim isn't? I did get a refurbished drive in return, which continued to work until I replaced it with a larger drive years later. These are great drives for the price and I'd put them in a raid array any time.

This was advertised correctly, the images were accurate, and it’s Great. I liked it a lot. This might be a good choice if you’re looking for Hard Drives. The packaging arrived as expected and without incident. Delivery was fast and as promised. Overall, I am thrilled with the product and comfortable with the five stars. I have no problem recommending this or the seller.

I bought 3 of these drives through amazon back in late 2017. I intended to use them to clone my existing 2tb drives which were nearly full. Life got busy, the packages were left in the boxes unopened until this month (August 2020). I opened these with the understanding that I was way past a return date if something was defective with the drive - totally understood that it was my responsibility to check that they work. No contest there. But imagine my surprise to find that these are in fact NOT new hard drives. 2 of them are used. I know this because one of them fails to load claiming it has a corrupt operating system on it. The other one was partitioned in half, with a system reserved partition of 50 mb. I can't format it because this appears to also have a part of the operating system on it, and requires a low-level format option. It's understood that I took a risk waiting THAT long to even check them. That's on me. But to find that "new" drives are actually used? That's on Amazon.Update: I reached out to Seagate directly and tried to get a utility to at least perform a zero-fill on the one used drive that still worked. They pointed me to their instructions on how safely to do that - and then asked if I just wanted to exchange the drives for new ones even though these were out of warranty (expired Feb 2020). They extended the warranty until September for me, and I can return all 3 for brand new drives! Thank you Seagate! Incredible customer service!
