I replaced 6 Barracuda drives with 5 of these IronWolf drives in a RAID 5 (8TB) configuration in my home file server that was running 24/7. The Barracuda's were failing at an alarming rate, however, Seagate was replacing the ones under warranty without a problem. When I dumped the drive info using the latest version of SeaTools, I discovered that the Barracuda drives that hadn't failed were actually Enterprise-class drives that were relabeled! They had in excess of 45,000 hrs of run time on them.Last March (2017) I decided to replace the entire array with five of these drives. They have been running 24/7 (accessed daily for files and backup storage) and are "Sync'd" at the beginning of each month. None of the problems I have been seeing since I built the system in 2011 have reoccurred, and it's the same motherboard.

These units are new. Not like the last ones I purchased through Amazon. The last units were adversed as new, but had 49k hours on them and lasted less than a year. Be careful of what you buy.

Using as part of a Synology NAS. They're not noisy. I was hoping for a bit faster read/write but they're replacements for earlier drives and they are faster than the old ones.

It works good so far. Just one issue, was boothing up at first, now it don't want to boot, but I use my SSD to boot. I'm sure it's my setting, or something simple.
