The media could not be loaded. I am using this as I am typing my review, and despite it being only 128gb, it's the cheapest efficient reliable SSD I have and I love it. super easy to install, insert at an angle, lower, hold down the end with screw, and bango it works like a charm. Boots up my win7 OS in 4.2 seconds (may vary I suppose) but still is fast and leaves your case spacious for other important parts. A short video of my installation :)

We've used a bunch of these in Intel NUC systems, and so far the performance and reliability is perfect, even in harsh environments. Using Ubuntu Linux, we find the performance to be almost exactly the same as several other brands we've tried, even the more expensive products. Our storage needs are modest - we could get by on 32GB, but the price difference is so small, we typically go with 64GB. They are silent (of course), run cooler than most brands and compatibility has never been an issue for us.Definitely recommended for a low-cost, high-performance SSD option.

For anyone looking for a fairly reliable new NGFF SSD drive to upgrade a Lenovo X1 Carbon (2014) notebook, I have successfully cloned my original SSD to the Transcend 512 GB MTS800 and installed it without any problems using an M.2 NGFF to SATA adapter board (sold on Amazon by M-Factors Storage) in an Apricorn EZ Upgrade USB 3.0 enclosure and Apricorn EZ Gig software. Although the Transcend web site says this SSD is compatible with the Lenovo X1 Carbon (2014), I couldn't find any reports from anyone else that it really worked in practice. Thus this report. The only reason I picked this 512 GB drive over the Crucial 512 Gb drive was it's cheaper price ($219.99), since I have had equally perfect experience previously using drives from both of these manufacturers. I will try to update this review in the future if there turn out to be any problems. UPDATE 12/24/14: Still no problems. Quick performance. Remains highly recommended.

This product is most likely to be used in laptops. Initially, i failed to upgrade my Windows 8.1/Win10 laptop with the Transcend 256GB SSD. First off, it failed to fit my ZTC Thunder enclosure (m.2 SATA USB3 adaptor), in order to support cloning, because a component was too 'high' on the board, and snagged the lip of the display window of the enclosure. This is quite a thick PCB, considerably more than the m.2 SSD inside my laptop. However, I was able to fit it 'the wrong way round' for a temporary measure. I tried several cloning applications without success, but finally bought EaseUS Partition Master, and their support 'hand-held' me through the cloning process: using Copy Disk Wizard, and 'copy all data' (rather than upgrade). Cloning to a USB3/SATAIII device can be problematic, but this method eventually worked when I installed the cloned drive into the laptop, and booted up, holding my breath. Post-processing required hiding 2 partitions used for Recovery, aligning partitions, creating unallocated space to support better over-provisioning and longer-term performance, etc. Not for the faint-hearted. However, I was able to do this without resorting to some of the more obscure tricks on the web ('bcdboot'?). Performance was good, too: CrystalMark reporting top speeds of 520MB/s read, 320MB/s write, with good IOPS figures. I've updated my rating and review from a previous one: when I had still failed to clone.
