WD's Red Pro NAS drives are fantastic platter-style disk drives. I was able to grab a couple of these at 2 different times about a year apart for a low price via Amazon Warehouse deals, and have used them now for quite some time, and they work fantastically. The only complaint I might have is that the 128MB cache variety of the 6TB model seems to be going the way of the dodo, so if I ever finally get an actual 4-bay NAS, I may have a hard time finding another pair of the 6TB 128MB cache models of these (the newer ones are 256MB cache, which is better, obviously, but drives must match perfectly to do things like RAID arrays and disk mirroring).

Replaced a drive on our NAS with same model. Easy. Works great.

I purchased this drive is a large storage drive. I wanted to consolidate a number of smaller drives. It was also important to me that the driver have a fast transfer speed because I anticipate moving large files around. Because of Amazon's penchant for lumping the views of 1 GB and 6 GB drives together, I ordered and canceled several because I expected 7200 RPM, which I saw in the 1 GB drives, but when I ordered my 6 GB drive I ended up with the 5400 RPM. And 64 MB cache. So, to summarize, this is a 6 TB SATA III 7200 RPM 128 MB cache 5 year warranty Western Digital Red.I was concerned that a 7200 RPM drive would be noisy. I cannot hear this drive. It is wicked fast at over 200 MB per sec. when reading and writing from my Samsung Evo 950 M.2. I have attached a screenshot of a speed test. This drive is only about $30 cheaper than a similarly sized Western Digital Black, but is very similar performance characteristics. I have a couple of large capacity external drive so I expect this to be the last spinner I will ever have to buy.

Drives are great, but was very disappointed with price ended up with. Ordered them for $279 Cdn, from Canadian site, but when came through ended up paying in US $ and extra costs from US. Coiup,e months after bought had a refund applied but not nearly enough. Is first issue I’ve had with Amazon, is chalk up as learning experience to print when order so have something to show them.
