I bought the Rosewill Photon 650W PSU because of a need for more power. I have an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 GPU and I had peculiar problems with its use. The power requirement for the GPU was supposed to be 500W and that was the rating of the PSU that came with my HP ENVY 700-430 PC which runs Windows 10 Home using Intel i7, 16GB RAM, 500 GB SSD, and 1TB HDD. Later I became aware of the GPU needing 500W from a single 12VDC rail and after closer inspection my stock PSU had only 420W on a single 12VDC rail. When the Rosewill 650W Photon PSU arrived I studied it carefully because it is fully modular and my previous experience changing a PSU years ago involved a non-modular cable bundle PSU. My first concern was whether it would fit in my mid tower case since it is a tad larger in two of the three dims. I was very pleased when it did fit exactly after depressing the original PSU locking tang and sliding it past until it was completely into position. I installed the four mounting sgrews carefully to make sure none were stripped and it was then I noticed the size and weight of the case makes that a necessity right up to the last turn of the last sgrew. I then placed the cables beginning with the 24 pin motherboard cable, the CPU cable, the storage drives cable, the DVD cable, and the GPU cable. Before the purchase I was concerned whether the cables might be too long but they are just right for the mid tower case. I was also concerned about the cable connectors and they too were also correct. The GPU cable was 8 pin at the PSU and 6+2 pins for the single 8 pin connection on the GPU and the 2 pin goes in first which is then locked into place by the 6 pin connector. I took special care to route and secure the motherboard and CPU cables with twist ties to provide adequate slack. I took about 1.5 hours to complete the installation and an experienced install could get it done easily in half that much time. The new PSU started up correctly the first time. I have had zero problems or concerns with this product. I have noticed it takes a tiny bit longer to rise from sleep and to go into sleep mode and I appreciate that because it surely means less stress on the PSU which is great for the durability of the PSU. Unfortunately I have yet to resolve the problems with the GPU though I am certain it has nothing to do with the new more powerful PSU. I'm still hoping to get right with that soon. I have noticed a subtle improvement in other high intensity operations seeming to run just a little bit better. The GPU issue is the real acid test and I still have some other kind of problem concerning the GPU which is an extreme performer when it does work. The GPU is sure to perform at an even higher level once I have it working again.

I've only had this a couple of days, but I am impressed by the performance so far. The fully modular cables make my desktop test bench cleaner and simpler. Just attached the couple of cables required for testing.

I installed this on my old Core i7 4th Generation Acer Predator system when the stock power supply went bad. I had to purchase a 24 to 12 pin adapter for $7.00. Otherwise, this is a great power supply. It's vital that you only have to install the power cables you need. The rest can be stored in a convenient bag for later use.

fit perfectly in my Lenovo computer. I like that it came with all of the cables you need and since its modular you could leave the cable that you don't need out of the build
