First off: here's my recommended settings:CONTRAST: 69BRIGHTNESS: 60 (Adjust based on the light level around you)COLOR: user color, Red = 95, Green = 95, Blue = 99MANUAL IMAGE ADJUST:SHARPNESS: 0DYNAMIC CONTRAST: OffECO MODE: StandardBLUE LIGHT FILTER: 0ADVANCED IMAGE ADJUST:VIEWMODE: StandardSMARTSYNC: OffFREESYNC: On (make sure to enable this through your GPU driver, and set Windows to 144hz via Settings>System>Display>Advanced Display Settings>Display Adapter Properties>Monitor>Screen Refresh Rate. Otherwise you will see neither freesync nor 144hz.)RESPONSE TIME: AdvancedLOW INPUT LAG: Ultra fastBLACK STABILIZATION: 3ADVANCED DCR: 0Alright, with that out of the way, let me say this: the XG2401 really delivers. It has almost everything you could expect, from super low input lag (measured by pcmonitors.info to be 3.38ms, which is incredibly fast for a modern display) to customization of color and response time (how fast pixels will change brightness/color). 144hz really does make a difference, and it's visibly much smoother even on the desktop or web browsing, let alone video games.Speaking of video games, this monitor also supports freesync. If you have an AMD card that supports freesync, that means it will essentially force the monitor to adapt to the refresh rate of the graphics card. That means you can run your games at an unlocked frame rate (vsync off) and there will be absolutely no stuttering or tearing, as long as you don't go above 144fps. Some games are fairly easy to run at 144fps, like Rocket League, while others are much more demanding, but freesync means that anything you run at, up to 144fps, will look perfectly smooth. This is a TN panel, so color and black level aren't particularly great compared to an IPS LCD. Despite that, this monitor actually has some pretty dang good color reproduction; nevertheless, colors might look a little dull. Don't let this put you off, though: the tradeoff with a TN panel is that while black level, color, and viewing angles suffer somewhat, the response time will be significantly faster, which is essential to a quality 144hz experience. A slow response time leads to a lot of ghosting and blurring, and the effect of 144fps won't shine through; a fast response time will make each individual frame stand out, and it'll look hyper-smooth. The optimal setting for response time at 144hz is "advanced," as "standard" is too slow and blurry, while "ultra fast" has too strong of an overdrive, causing distracting shadows behind fast moving parts of the image. On the outside, the XG2401 is a sleek and unobtrusive monitor. It's not flashy and annoying, and red undertones are hidden behind the monitor and at its base. Also, the power LED is not visible from a normal angle, which is good, as it won't distract when you're playing in the dark. The monitor has a matte finish on the screen, which has its ups and downs; it cuts down on the bold glare of a smooth glass screen, but it also spreads it over the screen, dulling the image quality a bit if you're not playing in the dark. The monitor's control buttons are located under the screen, where they're somewhat easy to find and use.Overall, the XG2401 is an excellent product and a great value. While the image quality (color, black level) won't blow you away, it delivers on a quality 144hz freesync experience, and the price is low considering this. Recommended.

First off, I am coming from a multitude of monitors in the past 3 years. I used the korean B+ monitors that were 27 inches at 1440p ips that overclocked to 120hz refresh rate, and then also the 60hz Acer 23 inch ips monitors. My uses ranged from school work, emails, web browsing, and Battlefield 3/4 gaming. And I must say, this Viewsonic monitor is my favorite. The 144hz refresh rate and Freesync with my amd 290 card are not only great for First person shooter gaming, but is exquisite on the eyes in normal use on the desktop and web browsing. Also, the blacks on this thing are great! They are much better than my previous ips monitors. Although the colors are not the best, if you sit directly in front of this monitor and have your eyes aligned with roughly the top of the monitor when you are seated and using it (recommended viewing angle for any computer monitor) and are an arm's length away from the monitor, the colors look great and fit the job all the way until you need something such as professional photo shop or color editing. The build quality is great, and the stand is very sturdy. The freesnyc is awesome, you can barely tell that the frames are going up or down when you are playing games, and the transition is very smooth. I love the black stabilizer, it helps me see better in Battlefield 4. Although I do have to say one thing about the gamma on this monitor, it is very high out of the box. I found the best middle ground by lowering the gamma through AMD catalyst control center from 1.00 to .85 for the gamma. And then I put the Black Stabilization to level 6 through the monitor's settings. Brightness is at 30 because the back-light is very strong on this thing. Contrast is at 70, and I have the blue light filter set to 0 (so the screen is the warmest it can be). When sitting directly in front as I mentioned above, I have not had any eye fatigue and that is from using the monitor for up to 5 hours at a time. The colors look great for a TN panel, and the monitor is so responsive and fast I do not think I can go back to an IPS panel until that technology can be fast as these TN panels. So if you are a casual but enthusiastic FPS gamer that also use their computer for light professional use such as school or career work that does not require 100% color accuracy, and the simple email/web browsing/shopping activities, I cannot recommend this monitor enough.I do have to point out that I originally bought this monitor from Newegg but the one they sent had a dead pixel right in the middle of the screen! So I returned it and got another from Amazon, and have had no problems. There is slightly more back light bleed around the bottom and right edges on this one from Amazon, but is not noticeable in day to day use. Color shifting is apparent on this monitor though, but if seated like I mentioned, it looks great. I tried raising the monitor on the stand and using it at a different height and my eyes did start to fatigue faster for some reason. I then returned it so that my eyes were aligned with the top of the monitor and all was good again. Colors looked better that way too. I got it for $261.99 from Amazon. And then used my Discover card Price Protection to get $12 back when Newegg dropped their price to $249.99. Hope this helped.
